LINKIN PARK To Perform Entire 'Hybrid Theory' Album At U.K.'s DOWNLOAD Festival
November 6, 2013According to The Pulse Of Radio, LINKIN PARK will perform its 2000 debut album, "Hybrid Theory", in full at next year's Download festival, scheduled to take place on June 13-15, 2014 at Donnington Park in England. LINKIN PARK will headline the second night of the event, on Saturday, June 14, with FALL OUT BOY taking the stage directly before them. This will be the first time that LINKIN PARK has ever performed "Hybrid Theory" from start to finish live, and probably the first time in years that a number of songs from the album have been revived in concert.
LINKIN PARK singer Chester Bennington said, "We've been kicking around the idea of playing 'Hybrid Theory' for some time — and Download is the perfect opportunity. The legendary energy of the crowd is the apex of the rock experience, and we're very excited to share this special night with them."
Other acts confirmed for Download include AEROSMITH, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, ROB ZOMBIE and ALTER BRIDGE.
"Hybrid Theory" — the band's original name before it was changed to LINKIN PARK for legal reasons — was issued in October 2000 and was a breakout success for the group, which had formed in 1996 and had played the Los Angeles club scene for several years.
The album yielded four massive hit singles — "One Step Closer", "Crawling", "Papercut" and "In The End" — while going on to sell more than 10 million copies in the U.S. alone.
Bennington and co-frontman Mike Shinoda told The Pulse Of Radio a while back about some of the challenges of making their debut album.
"We walked into every song with a fresh, you know, outlook on it and we focused equal amounts of energy on every song," Bennington said. "And that at times was quite interesting, and also difficult at the same time. So we really learned how to push ourselves to new levels, and that was an accomplishment."
"Our biggest obstacle was putting something together that we felt was strong from beginning to end and doing our best to give each song its proper attention," Shinoda added.
LINKIN PARK recently released "Recharged", a collection of remixes and new interpretations of tracks from the band's last record, 2012's "Living Things".
The set includes "A Light That Never Comes", the band's collaborative song with electronic dance music producer and DJ Steve Aoki.
Bennington has recently recorded and toured as the new frontman for STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, while LINKIN PARK has already begun work on its sixth studio album.
